ZDP-189 is centered between two pieces of 420J stainless. This allows for an incredibly tough steel to have a more ductile stainless. There is randomness similar to damascus to this pattern and not always perfectly centered. If you cannot handle the asthetics of the steel not being perfect, then this knife is not for you as we cannot promise perfect uniformity.
